	What's Left Speaks
2026

	What's Left Speaks is an immersive installation&#38;nbsp;where&#38;nbsp;peakers are imagined as chimeric creatures emerging from a post-human environment. They hang from the ceiling and emerge from the ground; cables as veins, decayed components as organs, and supports act as a skeleton. From the creatures emerge vocal sounds that are fragmentary, pulsating, whispering yet unmistakably human. The installation creates a speculative environment which invites you to discover how these creatures exist.


	Project in collaboration with Felix Bell and Nuno Lobo,&#38;nbsp;Commissioned by @daslebenamhaverkamp and developed through the @rewirefestival, supported by @stimuleringsfonds&#38;nbsp;and Gemeente Den HaagMaterials: ceramic horns with a self-made glaze made from gathered metal slag from the Rotterdam harbours with the support of Benedetta Pompili Studio, electroplated copper joints, various speaker parts, and metal tubes.

	Salt in motion: The body’s ionic exchange 

	Salt is a mineral found throughout biological, ecological, and chemical systems. Salt in Motion is an interactive installation that explores the connection between the Romanian saline landscape, the human body, and healing practices associated with salt mines and springs. Within the installation, salt appears in three physical states: salt rocks (solid), brine (solution), and airborne particles (aerosol). It features a proximity-sensor-hacked halogenerator system combined with carved salt rocks from the Ocnele Mari mine. The device disperses aerosolized salt in controlled environments, a wellness treatment rooted in speleotherapy, the exposure to salt-mine microclimates known to benefit respiratory conditions.

The installation includes a brine-filled tank that evokes the tradition of bathing at salt springs, where locals once collected brine for domestic use. The vase filled with crystallised mud is based on a reconstruction from fragments of briquetage salt containers from the Bronze Age, discovered at the Valea Sărată–Gherla site by Gaia and Marius Alexianu, an ethnoarchaeologist and leading scholar on the anthropology of salt who has directed multiple research projects on the cultural, ritual, and technological practices surrounding salt in Romania from prehistory to the present.

	Dust serves as a space-temporal archive, tracing human actions in physical reality. Similar to an archive, pollution captures and preserves information about past events, ideologies, and behaviors. Billions of particles in the air reveal cracks in hegemonic thinking, reflecting cultural production and human activities into tangible toxic materials. Gaia collects pollution samples from Milanese building facades using organic latex, creating contaminated tissue to reflect and map air quality across different neighborhoods in the city.

	In the Milanese urbanscape, architraves, facades, and main entrances are adorned with grotesque ornaments: morphological and monstrous creatures intended to protect inhabitants and ward off malevolent spirits. However, these demonic stone faces now bear witness to modern-day pollution realms. Layers of black dust, stemming from emissions in manufacturing, waste treatment, combustion, and transport, shroud their features. .These monstrous forms, once symbols of protection, now embody the warning signs of our environmental impact. The resulting installation becomes a composition of hybrid bodies, blurring the boundaries between imaginary realities and the tangible environment.

	Pollution is often portrayed as an external matter to human bodies and culture. The project embodies the phenomenon of air pollution as CiucciaNebbia (meaning 'fog-sucker'), a mythical creature that walks the streets of Milan. Their body is made of fine toxic particles that settle on the facade of buildings. These layers of smog act as a living archive of Milan’s industrial history, along with the ideologies and lifestyle of its inhabitants. The CiucciaNebbia poses the question of what it means to assume the role of a hybrid subject, to embody a series of relationships and to identify with one’s surroundings when it is disrupted, contaminated and toxic.&#38;nbsp;

	Dreamweaving the Grottesque2024


	Can the figure of the monster serve as a system to glimpse at the socially constructed reality we inhabit, challenging conventional boundaries, standards, and inviting exploration into alternative narratives through embracing complexity and hybridity? The project wants to adopt the figure of the monster as a methodology for artistic, anthropological and environmental research. Starting from the notion of understanding the human as separate from the surroundings, we question the notion of the body as a fixed container instead of an interactive, porous and ever-changing one. Employing into the design process what is by definition a symbol that goes beyond norms and limits, adopting the monster as a morphing system to observe spaces, matter, bodies and the relations connecting those, within the frame of a fact-fictional realm of action.

“Saline Dimensions: Bodies from a Salt-Burnt Ground’ is an interdisciplinary project that explores the issue of soil salinization and its impact on plant growth in the Netherlands. Through merging material experimentation, speculative narratives, culinary experience, the project highlight correlations between saline agriculture and crops adaptation into a dinner format.


By focusing on collective experiences and spatial perceptions as communication tools, we want to nurture intuitive means of understanding the impact of soil salinisation in an age of accelerated climate change.&#38;nbsp;
