SO x Tatreez Design
2019 - On Going
Tatreez Design is a local social brand, formed by 112 Palestinian craft-women working with traditional embroidery techniques across Nahr Al Bared, Bourj Al Shamali, Beddawi, and Ein El Helweh, four different Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon.

In 2019, SO launched the project “SO x Tatreez Design” that aims to support Tatreez Design, sharing the stories and art of this group of craftswomen while emphasizing the impact of creativity on themes and in social contexts. The project is a fundraising campaign carried out through activities, projects, and initiatives devised by creative professionals in various fields. The fundraising occurs on three levels: ongoing activities, a capsule project, and on-site intervention.

SO is a cultural association of independent professionals working in creative fields. Their space acts as a hub for promoting social responsibility through the intersection of creative practice and community engagement, generating shared realities and fostering cultural exchange.

The capsule project is the Tatreez Collective collection. It combines the creativity of international artists and designers with the traditional Palestinian cross-stitch embroidery technique of the Tatreez Design craftswomen, their knowledge and stories. SO has curated a group of artists and designers sensitive to the theme of embroidery, textile techniques and collective work. They were asked to interpret cross-stitch to personalize garments and objects to be hand-embroidered by Tatreez Design craftswomen. The result is the Collective collection, which includes customized work uniforms, collectible design objects, and small accessories.
